Gervonta Davis Reacts To Ryan Garcia Knocking Out Luke Campbell

As 2021 kicks off for the sport of boxing two of the young guns, in terms of the sport’s brightest new world talents, appear to be on a collision course.

Earlier in 2020 during a misfortune ridden year Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis was one of the sport’s bright young stars that really broke through.

Knocking out one of the toughest fighters of the modern era in the form of celebrated Mexican champion Leo Santa Cruz.

Arguably the knockout of 2020.

Davis announced himself in a big, big way with that win. To ice a man as respected as Leo in that fashion said a lot.

It was another young fighter’s turn to have a breakout win this past weekend too however.

Ryan Garcia knocked out the UK’s Luke Campbell to really show people in an acid test fight that he is the real deal.

Not just an Instagram hype job as some had suggested.

Davis was less than impressed however:

An excellent fight to be made at a future date to be determined.

No doubt about it.

Two hungry young lions marching through the sport at this time.

Davis questioned the sanity of Garcia’s promoter in terms of his assumptions surrounding a possible bout:

I don’t think Davis was looking to kick a man while he was down here.

Not the case I’d suggest, in terms of mocking someone allegedly battling addiction/health problems.

More so just expressing his sheer disbelief at the sentiment of De La Hoya.

Credit to De La Hoya and others in the sport like Adrien Broner recently who appear to be getting clean and sober.

It takes a man to admit a problem. An even bigger one to ice it.

All in good time as they say. Rather, on God’s time.

The sport of boxing like all sports is a bit snookered once again it appears.

Given the world situation continually evolving and changing again.

Respectfully, expect the unexpected.

Many fights falling out again soon it appears.

I have every faith however that boxing will continue to innovate and make the necessary adjustments.

During a certainly very adverse time for the world and humanity.

As for Davis vs Garcia down the road?

What a fight it is bubbling up to be.

Bring it on.
