Young boxing star Ryan Garcia showed his metal this past weekend to get up off the floor and come back to stop the UK’s Luke Campbell.
Classy Campbell paid tribute to Garcia as a future special talent in the sport after the bout.
When one surveys previous generations in the sweet science of those who have shown promise as not just good champions, but possibly great champions, some things they have in common.
Heart, self belief and a willingness never to quit.
This has manifested itself in many instances in champions picking themselves up off the floor to come back to win a fight.
The likes of Joe Calzaghe and Tyson Fury spring to mind off the top of my head in this regard.
When a fighter gets knocked down but gets back up to win a fight it speaks volumes.
Although a work in progeress Garcia checked this box at the weekend.
