One time pro boxer and UFC fight star Conor McGregor is coming off some bad news.
As well as coming off the first knockout loss in his MMA career he has been dealt a further blow to his boxing career.
Talks in recent months suggested there was legitimate moves by relevant players being made to make a Manny Pacquiao vs Conor McGregor boxing showdown.
This won’t be happening anytime soon now given the latest update from Ryan Garcia.
The undefeated American boxing sensation confirmed on social media that he will take on Filipino boxing great Manny Pacquiao.
(Apparently) next up in 2021 at a date and venue to be determined in due course.
That ices Pacquiao vs McGregor for now.
Garcia had been thought to be taking on fellow undefeated American boxing star Devin Haney next but it is unclear what the status of that is now.
Pacquiao has confirmed nothing yet.
PacMan’s latest post on Twitter being:
Wise words Manny.
As for Garcia who knows.
It is still plausible he could take on Haney next but time will tell.
Travel bans still being in place internationally continues to make things difficult for big fights.
Expect this to gradually go back to normal in the coming months.
