Talks surrounding a possible showdown between the two best welterweights in the world appear to have started again.
In a time where not many international big fights are being made.
Yet, one of the fighters is from a State where fights are happening at the moment (Texas).
Perhaps all is not lost yet.
Each side is blaming the other for the fight not being made thus far.
All part of the carnival that is building a big fight in boxing.
Take it with a pinch of salt.
The truth usually falls somewhere in the middle.
Neither guy is willing to take a backwards step:
Crawford also said the following while leaving Spence’s name out at the end:
It is a fight that has to happen at some point.
For the good of the welterweight division.
For the good of boxing.
Likely though it won’t be until after major crowds are allowed back.
The money both guys will want will likely not be forked out the way things are.
It comes down to money at the end of the day in business. Which, is just a by product of success.
Both guys have established themselves to the point of demanding appropriate compensation at this point.
Neither of these guys will want to let their value be decreased.
Understanably.
That said, it’s very frustrating for boxing fans.
Two guys in their primes regarded as up there as pound for pound best in the sport.
What a way this would be to help continue to bring boxing back during a turbulent time this year.
What an advertisement it would be for the sport if Fox and ESPN could somehow come together again to make this work.
