While the start to the year has been a little slow for boxing the end of the month sees the return of the sport’s pound for pound number one.
Numero uno. Head honcho. Top dog. The pound for pound don. The best of the best. The crème de la crème. The main man. And so on, and so forth — you get the picture…
Hype aside, Mr. Alvarez has quite rightly earned his position as the best fighter in the sport pound for pound in the eyes of most reasonable onlookers.
The Mexican boxing future legend is an awesome fighter that has gone through different weight divisions.
Taking out opponents with ease when he chooses to.
A skill set that is still improving technically.
Quite remarkably all things considering.
A man driven to be the best who will stop at nothing.
Ahead of his fight with Avni Yildirim in Miami, Florida on February 27th he’s been training alongside some other well known fighters in the sport.

You can tell a lot about a man by the company he keeps.
His real friends and close work colleagues. A small but loyal team. Always the best way.
Clearly Alvarez gets this.
Surrounding himself with fellow world level fighters in preparation for the end of the month.
It will only fuel and drive him further.
Iron sharpens iron.

While Alvarez is expected to win he still must look impressive as he bids to build his star further.
It will be interesting to see what numbers it does in terms of viewership.
Particularly in the current climate with businesses and people getting taken out of the equation left, right and center.
It is important for boxing that he fights regularly. Talks of three guaranteed fights this year is encouraging.
Alvarez should he win is set to take on the UK’s Billy Joe Saunders as his second fight of the year.
His second fight with promoter Eddie Hearn this year also.
No doubt Alvarez will be looking closely at the numbers to see how these fights do.
Before deciding where he will box for his third fight before the end of 2021.
Staying ready and sharp by the looks of the above.
Fair play.
An impressive fighter to say the least who will be tough to beat.
The man who stops at nothing can’t be stopped.
Alvarez thus far has shown he has the eye of Tiger since coming back from defeat to Floyd Mayweather years ago.
He will be hard to stop.
