Renowned boxer Adrien Broner returned to action this weekend in a lackluster win on points.
Indeed many felt opponent Santiago pushed him close.
Certainly closer than some of the final scorecards suggested.
Stand out prospect in the sport, Devin Haney said the following of the bout on social media afterwards:
“Broner still sharp.”
Followed by:
“When he let his hands go.”
Certainly the first point by Haney proving very controversial with many.
As for the latter, Broner does seem to have been shy on pulling the trigger with combinations in recent years.
Moving up in weight could have being a contributory factor in this.
When he was winning world titles years ago he was lighter and certainly letting his hands go more.
Time will tell what version of old ‘AB’ will turn up next time.
It is up to him.
