There is perhaps no better trait exhibited in a human than admitting when they were wrong.
Putting their pride (the deadliest sin of them all) away and holding their hands up if they made a mistake.
Newark’s Shakur Stevenson this weekend did just that.
Done so after witnessing his rival Oscar Valdez recording a win for the books in the fight capital of the world, Las Vegas.
Following his sensational knockout over fellow Mexican competitor Stevenson said the following on his social media channels of Valdez:
“Valdez made me eat my words so far.”
He added:
“Congrats champ @oscarvaldez56. I respect what you did tonight surprised me.. It’s only 1 FIGHT to make now!”
Very good.
Certainly a fight that could be made in due course with both boxers on the same network at ESPN.
Both boxing under the same promoter banner.
Styles make fights and the pair could match up well.
