Russian welterweight David Avanesyan shocked many in boxing this weekend when he stopped previously unbeaten Josh Kelly inside the distance in the UK.
The UK’s Kelly was undefeated and highly touted as a future world champion coming into the fight.
He can, of course, come back and still go onto be a world champion but for now it is Avanesyan’s moment.
Credit to his trainer Adam Booth throwing in the towel when he did to save his fighter for another day.
Another win in boxing against the run of play as it were.
In terms of upsets.
Testament to the unpredictable times the world is in where boxers are taking opportunities where they can.

Very impressive.
Also upset on the card was another UK fighter in the form of Ryan Charlton.
Like Kelly he was also unbeaten going into the bout and was stopped by Albanian Florian Marku:

All in all, some big shocks this weekend in the UK.
Thankfully the scorecards by the judges overall were not as much a problem as in weeks prior.
