In recent days it has been announced that former world champion turned promoter Oscar De La Hoya is returning to the ring this summer.
It is not clear at what level, however, or whom the opponent might be as of yet.
It has been a number of years since De La Hoya has been active as a professional.
Many have expressed concern for his health should he decide to step in there with a legitimate professional boxing contender at this point.
That said, it could be an exhibition of sorts against some celebrity, so it is unknown just yet.
His old rival however Manny Pacquiao has perhaps fired a warning to him of what would happen should he get in there with a legit pro boxer again:
That was the last time De La Hoya fought in a professional ring.
2008.
Time waits for no man, as they say.
A vicious beating of an epic nature that saw ‘PacMan’ catapult to success in some fashion, making Swiss cheese out of De La Hoya.
So far, all that is really known, is that De La Hoya intends to return July 3rd.
