Southpaw WBO super-featherweight World Champion Jamel Herring recently defeated Carl Frampton by stoppage in the Middle East.
He now hopes to land another significant fight in the near future.
In light of the big Jake Paul event at the weekend, Herring has brought up a pertinent point for the likes of him and other boxers who have paid their dues the hard way in the sport:
Certainly can’t knock Paul’s enterprising work ethic and what he’s built.
At the same time, Herring makes a good second point too.
Surely a balance has to be struck somewhere.
If celebrity boxing were to completely to take over, the sport would lose the run of itself and its identity which can’t be allowed happen.
Obviously.
Boxing has a rich history. Nothing is perfect. For all its faults there are many positive aspects of its history.
Time-tested and honored traditions which help make it what it is today.
As for Paul, perhaps he will be stepped up into a more live boxing match for his fourth contest in the professional ring.
