Pound for pound number one and boxing superstar from Mexico Canelo Alvarez returned to work tonight in fine style.
A stoppage win over challenger Billy Joe Saunders of the UK.
Saunders gave it his best but in the end Alvarez, like he has been for everyone in recent times, was just too good.
A suspected broken eye socket or orbital bone injury resulted in Saunders’ trainer pulling him out of the fight as he couldn’t see.

Certainly in his prime now.
And likely for a number of years ahead.
He will be hard to be beaten unless he takes his eye off the ball.
He won’t though.
