Gervonta Davis returns to action next up against Mario Barrios on June 26th in Atlanta.
It will represent quite a step up in weight for ‘Tank’ who will challenge for the WBA super-lightweight championship.
No joke and it is certainly a very dangerous move for him to be stepping up that much in weight.
If he were to win in emphatic fashion, like against Leo Santa Cruz last year, this will add further to his pound for pound credentials.
His handler Floyd Mayweather knows just how dangerous this will be and he’s been more hands on in Davis’ sparring as seen here later in this video:
Speed and boxing will be important at that kind of weight step up.
Power comes from speed at the end of the day and if Davis were to win by knockout again it would show the power traveled up with him in weight.
Interesting fight and a big test for the still young Davis.
Mayweather himself returns to action next week in a boxing exhibition in Miami against Logan Paul.
