Nineteen years ago today one of the great heavyweight occasions of modern boxing history happened.
Lennox Lewis and Mike Tyson finally met in a boxing ring after years of fans wanting to see them throw hands.
Granted, it happened a lot later than most wanted.
Sure, Tyson was past his best.
But, eventually, after plenty of insults and a press conference brawl, the two finally got in a boxing ring on June 8th, 2002.
Here’s what happened:
Lewis winning conclusively in the end.
He pointed out today being the anniversary on Twitter saying:
Many thought the press conference brawl before the fight was staged.
Lewis was quick to point out however today that wasn’t the case:
Wow, nearly two decades on.
19 years ago today.
Where does the time go at all.
