Women’s boxing’s momentum took a bit of a nose dive recently with Claressa Shields going to mixed martial arts for now and recording her first win in the sport.
That said, from an American point of view, undefeated world champion Mikaela Mayer won again at the weekend.
There are a number of quality international female fighters but likely the big momentum again for it will come again in the summer and maybe once more again before the end of the year.
Australian boxing beauty Ebanie Bridges no doubt will also be pivotal in this in her next fight this summer.
She reacted to the win by Mayer at the weekend with the following:
Maybe these two women will find themselves in the ring one day as competitors at a catchweight.
