Not many know ahead of this weekend’s big fight in Atlanta involving Gervonta ‘Tank’ Davis that his opponent, Mario Barrios of Mexico, the champion, has one of boxing’s great trainers in his corner.
Virgil Hunter no less.
The man who trained Andre Ward to become one of the best pound for pound boxers of his era in recent times.
Defensively astute, as well as excellent man management ability, Hunter appears to have struck the perfect working relationship balance with Barrios.
Going into the fight Barrios the champion seems very content.
A content fighter is a dangerous one and Davis and his team will know that this weekend.
Sure, Barrios might have been there to be hit before but no doubt Hunter will have watched footage too in an attempt to tighten his man’s defense.
What a fight in store this weekend.
