Canelo Shows His Metal With New Russian Target

Canelo ‘Saul’ Alvarez is currently regarded by many as the best boxer in the world.

Regardless of weight class.

In recent times his fight game has really come along.

Not unbeatable. No one is.

But it appears he will be very hard to beat in and around middleweight and super-middleweight.

He is thought to be in talks to face Caleb Plant next but he’s already signaled he’s interested in a sustained period of time up at light-heavyweight.

Targeting Russian Artur Beterbiev no less. The main man in the weight class.

A ferocious undefeated world champion and a genuine puncher at 175 lbs.

What a fight that would be.

While some boxing fans may have criticized Alvarez’ win against Sergey Kovalev a few years ago, as one against a shot ‘Krusher’ — that could not be said here.

Alvarez beat Billy Joe Saunders of the UK last time out but was pushed hard and definitely tested by Saunders at times in that fight.

Before a brutal punch ended things, effectively.

Plant, as well, is a slick boxer who will present problems for Alvarez.

It will be exciting to see how all these fighters can bring the best out of the Mexican fight star in the months and years ahead.

Fighters like this need challenges and tests all the time, and to keep busy.

Alvarez is more busy than any of the other big stars in world boxing at the moment.

To be fair to him.
