Last weekend’s win for former UFC Champion Vitor Belfort over a 58-year-old Evander Holyfield in a professional boxing ring in Florida brought up a number of serious questions.
Firstly. How the heck did it happen?
Okay. If it was an exhibition bout. Fair enough. But a professional contest that resulted in a stoppage. At that age of 58 for Holyfield.
That’s another thing.
What year is it. You’d almost ask.
Former Holyfield competitor and undisputed heavyweight champion of the world Lennox Lewis said afterwards:
Indeed. Just a shell of the old version of Holyfield.
Obviously.
Nothing wrong with these legends earning money but perhaps most suitable to the exhibition format.
The most sensible option.
On all counts.
