Women’s boxing champion Mikaela Mayer continued to make waves this past Friday night.
Fighting on ESPN Mayer is propelling the women’s pro boxing code in her own unique way. A gifted boxer and Olympic medalist with a big professional boxing future.
She went 16-0 by unanimous decision over France’s Maïva Hamadouche. Speaking after the fight she said:
Mayer is progressing every fight it would appear.
No need for a nickname either. One of the few boxers without a nickname. She is just building her career fight by fight on her own merit and ability. Which is considerable from a boxing sweet science standpoint.
Speaking after the fight her promoter and boxing Hall of Famer Bob Arum made a solid point overall too:
Makes a lot of sense.
Shalom.
