Years ago a fair criticism of women’s boxing was that the standard of fights for fans wasn’t the best but that can’t be said anymore.
The depth of quality women fighters, their personalities and stories is considerable.
Hence why most platforms now have pound for pound female rankings this year and so forth.
A big fight for 31-year-old Mayer and the logical one surely would be against 27-year-old Alycia Baumgardner — who won titles recently too.
All in all, American women’s boxing is certainly exciting at the moment and has a lot of new talent:
