Many will remember Abner Mares for some of this thrilling fights with Mexican Leo Santa Cruz.
Mexican-American Mares has not fought since 2018 yet but not retired either by the looks of it.
He is still a keen boxing fan and speaking on one possible fight between Vergil Ortiz and Keith Thurman he told EsNews YouTube (hat tip):
Thurman had a comeback fight last weekend and won on points.
WBO champion Ortiz has a 100% knockout ratio (18-0-18 KO) and returns in March in LA.
If he were to win, a Thurman vs Ortiz fight would surely guarantee fireworks with their clash of styles later in the year.
