Canelo Looking To Vacate IBF Title Rather Than Face Mandatory

The IBF have come in for some scrutiny recently after Usyk’s heavyweight title win and now Canelo Alvarez is looking at getting away from their belt.

Now Mexican boxing star Saul Canelo Alvarez is is being reported in multiple places is looking at vacating (giving up) the belt next up.

Rather than take on his mandatory:

Interesting.

In a way, you can’t blame him maybe.

Likely he’s looking at a big fight against hopefully David Benavidez.

With the greatest respect to William Scull, that fight is a bigger fight for Alvarez if that is the intended option.

Also, fans are really hoping he finally goes for the Benavidez fight.

Alvarez has always shown his willingness to face the best throughout his career.

Right the way through even going back to his younger days.

When he went in with all-time great Floyd Mayweather, whom many would not face at such a young age.

Alvarez learned from the loss and applied himself well years later.

It will be interesting to see what happens, and, who contests the title, should he vacate it.
