The second Canelo fight of 2024 is now being seriously looked at as reported in Mexico in two still relatively quality fights.
Certainly many would like to see Alvarez put in there with big hitting Edgar Berlanga of Puerto Rico per the below.
Jermall Charlo also an option says ESPN’s Latin America’s Salvador Rodriguez (translation):
“Puerto Rican Édgar Berlanga (22-0 , 17 KO) is among the possible rivals for the return of four-time champion Canelo Álvarez (61-2-2, 39 KO). Jermall Charlo is another option. September 14 is still contemplated, but the lawsuit could well be postponed from 1 to 3 weeks.”
That’s disappointing though for those who want David Benavidez or Terence Crawford next up.
They could still happen too of course.
It is looking like the two above though are the front runners at the moment.
Negotiations are ongoing.
Alvarez is clearly (with Gervonta Davis second) the biggest pay per view draw in North, Central South America.
He commands the big bucks with the networks.
He can name his price.
Hopefully he’ll consider the David Benavidez fight.
Everyone would like to see that fight and it would sell well.
Berlanga a dangerous opponent too it should be said.
