Wladimir Klitschko today was in an emotional post on what is the 80th birthday of one of the greatest trainers ever left a note.
Klitschko and Manny Steward formed a close bond of fighter and pupil on their road to the top and success over the years.
Steward who is no longer with us would have been eighty-years-old today, happy birthday.
Here is what Klitschko said on X a short time ago:
“Today I would like to give a heartfelt tribute to legend, friend, mentor, and father Emanuel Steward.
Today would have been my friend’s 80th birthday.
I’m so grateful for all you did for me and boxing in general. You had an infectious personality with a no-nonsense professional work ethic. I was lucky to be one of the 41 Champions you trained throughout your incredible career. We had a great run winning titles and belts spanning the globe.
You touched so many lives, I’m blessed to be one of them. R.I.P. Coach. I promise to keep my left up and keep on punching until we meet again.
Love you buddy!”
Many consider Steward to be one of the very greatest trainers that ever lived.
A unique personality who had a great style of man management as well as a system technically for fighters.
A combination of basically being his fighter’s friend in life, as well as getting the technical ability and conditioning on point.
Klitschko for his part was one of the great heavyweight outside fighters who controlled fights with the jab and distance in his day.
The passing of the torch fight to the next generation in many ways for him didn’t come in the Anthony Joshua fight, but the Tyson Fury fight in Germany.
