Shakur Stevenson at the weekend became a free agent in his latest win in the ring and is arguably the most sought after fighter in boxing right now.
Who signs him or what he decides to do or go with is up to him.
With so much new platforms, promoters, Saudi and more, there is a lot of choice. This will only grow in the years ahead too. On X he posted himself on a call with Floyd Mayweather a short time ago saying:
“Goat (greatest of all time) talk.”
Interesting.
Mayweather and his Mayweather Promotions company is going through a lot of changes at the moment. If they were the ones to sign him, that is.
The Mayweather Promotions CEO Leonard Ellerbe recently stepped down and Richard Schaefer, the former CEO of Golden Boy Promotions, stepped into that position.
If Stevenson and his team are looking at that option, ask them to show them the money. Maybe a good option too particularly with Schaefer who has a long track record of success in all industries.
Saudi Arabia and a promoter aligned with the Saudis could be another good option.
It was reportedly recently that Stevenson turned down a five-fight $15 million deal from his old promoter Top Rank.
So again, whoever he opts for, ask them to show him the money. Highest bidder wins. Simple. If not enough, say no. Turn it down and go somewhere else. $15 million just not enough. Minimum he should be looking for is $20 million and that’s at the very, very least, minimum.
