Jake Paul returns to the professional boxing ring on July 20th ahead of his big fight with Mike Tyson later this year.
He takes on Mike Perry, a renowned MMA fighter and now very successful professional bareknuckle boxer who at 32 is not over the hill and is a star in the bareknuckle format.
Many believe Paul could be making a mistake with him and Perry certainly believes in himself as shown here:
The crowd in Florida could be in for some entertainment on July 20th.
The reason Paul is likely taking this eight round professional boxing match at cruiserweight is twofold.
One, to get him on the way up to heavyweight to get used to fighting with additional weight on him.
Most likely he will come in as only a little bit over the cruiserweight limit for his heavyweight fight with Tyson in November. He looks at his perceived speed and movement as an advantage in the fight.
Two, is to basically keep the show rolling. July 20th was meant to be Tyson but due to minor injury to Tyson he needed a replacement opponent.
Paul has said after these fights this year wants to challenge for a world title in 2025. If so, Paul needs all the experience in professional boxing he can get.
DAZN are carrying the fight this month too against Perry. The Mike Tyson fight is on Netflix in November.
