Boxing is a rather emotional sport sometimes and when people’s kids box and their relatives box tensions rise at times.
Free agent and pound for pound talent Shakur Stevenson is in the news quite a bit at the moment and has put down a former boxer.
Stevenson has every man and his dog giving an opinion on what he should do. That’s up to him. No one else.
His former old-timer Promoter Bob Arum taking sly digs at one of Stevenson’s managers James Prince earlier. No good. Won’t help Arum, his agenda or Top Rank, either.
Boxing, the technology, streaming and the professional sports landscape has changed massively in the last twelve months and will do so again, even more, much more, over the next year or two ahead.
Stevenson can absolutely test the market and see his options. He’s on the tips of every news anchor and podcaster’s station at the moment letting rip at one this week:
As for Stevenson, boxing is about hitting and not getting hit, and being exciting. That’s professional boxing.
Stevenson will start putting the combinations more together even off the back foot as time goes on and the stoppages will come.
That’s where the excitement will come in.
Stevenson will be at the Jaron “Boots” Ennis fight this weekend too that Eddie Hearn and Matchroom will be promoting.
That will be interesting.
Him, PBC and many others are all options for Stevenson. Of course Hearn works a lot with the Saudis who are making big things happen in boxing at the moment and in the years ahead.
So, likely he will be the front runner to sign Stevenson.
