It is fight week for the greatest female boxer that ever lived, Claressa Shields, and what she tries to do this weekend is historical.
To put into perspective, in men’s professional boxing at the highest level only two men in history (one being Roy Jones) went from middleweight world champion all the way up to become heavyweight champion of the world.
The other being Bob Fitzsimmons of the UK before that way back on March 17th 1987 on St. Patrick’s day against “Gentleman” James (Jim) J. Corbett winning by knockout.
It was a real life David vs Goliath story the two times it was done.
It has never been even attempted let alone achieved in women’s boxing and this weekend Claressa Shields looks to do the impossible (14-0-2 KO) and she is only 29-years-old.
Shields actually fought as low as super-welterweight, so even more impressive then the two men who went from middleweight champions to heavyweight champions in history, it really is the greatest female sporting story there ever was, easily.
People like ESPN, America and others are lucky to have her alive as a living legend in their country at this time.
Literally, a living legend, winning the heavyweight title this weekend is frankly beyond anything thought possible.
What a fight week ahead:
Still very young, it is crazy and literally the biggest women’s sports story of all time this weekend, not least the fact she’s already the best women’s boxer of all time, by far too, by some distance, at that age. Unreal.
In some great fights too as a pro.

She’s also the only double Gold Olympic medallist winner in amateur boxing history for women.
Let all of that sink in.
This weekend, she takes on Vanessa Lepage-Joanisse in Detroit for the WBC and WBF heavyweight titles.
She’s not doing too bad either, well-deserved no less:
