Boxing star Ryan Garcia announced he’s taking on Manny Pacquiao next up and it is likely in one country more than any.
That’s Japan.
Garcia is on suspension in America for a post fight failed drugs test earlier this year to Devin Haney.
Speaking to Rizin, on Japan at the weekend Garcia was surprised by the audience:
“Man, the most respectful audience I’ve ever seen in my life. I would love to fight in front of people who appreciate the art like the Japanese do. I’ve not met one mean Japanese person and I’m being serious.”
Japan is going through a real renaissance in boxing at the moment.
A new golden age and comments from Garcia like that gets it out to the wider world even more.
