The George Foreman Olympics take is as always candid and straight to the point from Big George.
Foreman is an all-time great heavyweight champion in the history books but he represented his country as an amateur too at the Olympics, winning Gold in 1968 in Mexico City.
Speaking prior to the 2024 Games Foreman said on Meta:
“We either become a hermit-recluse; or face an ever changing world.
Opinions are obsolete; but the Olympic evolves. Writers are responsible for civilization you either write us into the future or send us back to markings in caves?
Boy I got you that time hahahaha
Big George”
He is spot on in many regards with the above.
Things change and times change but boxing is still a timeless sport in many ways.
It has always not only survived but thrived.
In many ways boxing is in the best place it has been in for decades right now. Professional boxing that is. The highest level of the sport.
Alas, boxing has taken more black eyes outside the ring than it ever has within it.
If boxing was still in schools today the world in the East and West would not be in the mess it is today.
That’s a fact.
