Ryan Garcia has some moments of clarity when he is sober and talks a lot of sense, people agree with him here.
Boxing star Garcia knows all too well about online piracy of his pay per view fights, even still, him and Tank Davis did huge numbers still in 2023.
He said the following on X which has got a lot of reaction:
In a sport like boxing and even the UFC, where participants literally risk their lives and put their health in harms way in a serious manner, the above carries some weight.
The thing is, they’ve said they’d stop the online piracy since around the early 2000s.
Over twenty years on and it has grown in usage more than ever worldwide now.
It would take a big coming together of online companies and countries worldwide to really try to stop it.
You’d almost have to get some sort of global internet law specifically for piracy rolled out to every country or — more than that — ever tiny obscure island on the planet where you can get an internet connection basically.
Not easy to do.
