Oscar De La Hoya has been candid on one of the fighters he promotes and how he perplexes him at times.
Ryan Garcia is still promoted by Oscar De La Hoya and Golden Boy Promotions for now.
Garcia is currently on suspension from boxing until 2025 for a failed doping test in the Devin Haney fight.
Speaking to Club Shay Shay podcast De La Hoya said of Garcia:
“Yes. Look first of all every time I’ve spoken to Ryan, every time I’ve talked to him on the phone and in person, he’s always nice. He’s always talking to me saying we have big plans, I’m motivated, I want to make a lot of money. Ryan is Ryan, right. Every time we talk everything is great. Then I pick up the phone and see Twitter, I see Instagram and I’m like, oh my gosh what are you doing? Oh my gosh, what are you doing?!”
Surely Garcia needs to surround himself with better people.
As well as improving himself in the meantime during the time off.
That combination could see Garcia come back even better in the boxing ring.
A professional boxing career is a very short career at the end of the day.
