Boxing star Ryan Garcia went from the ultimate highs to the ultimate lows in the sport in a few short weeks in 2024.
Earlier this year Garcia was floating in the clouds after beating Devin Haney in conclusive fashion, dropping the rightly much-heralded Haney in a clear points win.
Not long after that however Garcia popped for PEDs and his world collapsed.
Speaking on X he has clarified why he plead guilty at the time to the Commission in New York:
He still pleads his innocence that he never took steroids and the vast majority believe him.
Why?
The usage that he failed on was a miniscule amount, like a drop in the ocean at the time of testing.
A trace amount.
And Garcia had never shown to be a cheater in his professional career at all.
In fact, Gervonta Davis knocked out Garcia last year only — so Garcia’s win and comeback was even more impressive against Haney because of that.
He now must wait until 2025 for his comeback.
Some think he may box outside the US before that, however.
