Canelo Speaks On Respect Of Puerto Ricans and Miguel Cotto: Predicts Berlanga Goes No More Than 8

This weekend Canelo Alvarez and Edgar Berlanga throw down in the biggest Mexico vs Puerto Rico fight in many years.

It happens on Mexican Indepdnece Day weekend too at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas on Saturday night.

Speaking on “The Gloves Are Off” Canelo said:

“My team and I chose Berlanga because we believe this is a great fight for the fans. The press conference got lit and Berlanga did a lot of talking. Also, he’s going to bring it at the fight. I know he’s coming to win. I’ve always respected Puerto Ricans. Especially, Miguel Cotto against whom it was an honor to fight in 2015. And I’m sorry because his fellow Puerto Rican is going to lose.”

He went on:

“I’ve always given you my best. I’ve fought the best fighters in the world my whole career. The people who have really been there know. And those who haven’t also know, they just don’t want to accept it.”

He added:

“No fight is easy. I don’t want to let go of the position I’m in. I’ve fought to get where I am and so he has a major obstacle to overcome.”

Concluding:

“First of all I fight for me because if no, it’s not going to be the same. First you fight for yourself and take care of you and then you think of everybody (after that). You know what I mean? You’re going to see something good on September 14th. I know he’s a strong fighter (Berlanga). That’s what I’m preparing for. I’m going to finish him by knockout. I don’t know but no more than eight (rounds).”

There you have it.

What a fight in store in this weekend’s big time boxing in Las Vegas.
