Muhammad Ali is no longer here with us on Earth but his long time competitor and boxing legend still is.
George Foreman has gone quiet for much of 2024, doing little interviews and posts on social media.
Until now.
Great to see he is more than alive and kicking saying on X:
“Can you believe 50 years ago, the “Rumble in the Jungle,” fighting Muhammad Ali. Looking back at the best time of my life—celebrate with me with a slice of cake, as I relive the “Rope-a-Dope.” —George Foreman”
What a fight it was too.
Yes, the Rope-a-Dope is always a useful strategy.
In boxing terms Ali made Foreman almost think he was his friend during the fight, letting him beat him up and talking trash to him, only to hammer Foreman at the end.
Indeed, Ali was a master of that strategy in life, pretending to be friends with people often and talking all day long to them, letting them on that he was friends with them (while he could not give a damn about those people) while never really telling them anything.
Ali was a master of not just rope-a-dope in boxing and life but in the art of war.
Alas, Ali was a good fighter.
As for Foreman, he is still the oldest heavyweight champion in boxing history.
45.
The record still stands after all these years since 1994.
It would be great to see Foreman post more frequently on social media again particularly on the biggest platform in the world, X.
