Lennox Lewis gives his take below on the biggest heavyweight fight maybe ever on December 21st in the Usyk vs Tyson Fury 2 rematch.
Lewis knows plenty about heavyweight title fights being one of the best heavyweights to ever live.
Speaking to IFL TV Lewis said:
“The first fight was incredible. You had two great, undefeated heavyweights, but there can only be one champion, and that was Oleksandr Usyk. Tyson can look back at that fight and learn. He’s an up-and-down fighter—sometimes he’s down, sometimes he’s up. Right now, he’s down, but he’s focused on getting back up. He needs to start strong and get to work right from round one.”
Do you think Fury can do it?
“I think he has the potential, but it’s really up to him and how he performs in those first few rounds.”
Last question: what do you think about him keeping the same team? He’s faced some criticism for that choice.
“If he’s happy with his team and feels positive with them, it should be a good outcome. You need a great team behind you; you can’t make it without that support.”
Many make Fury a bigger underdog in the fight but you can never really count Fury out.
He’s comeback from things that mere mortals could not.
Moreover, Usyk while he jibes Fury on the ‘greedy belly’ weight issue — also was a little heavy last time out if Usyk is being objective.
If Usyk is smart he will come in a little lighter and be built even more for speed this time round, which is his advantage.
Fury will be ready to go back to work December 21st, make no mistake.
