A big moment for boxing and professional sport in Latin America and Mexico came this weekend for boxing’s biggest star and biggest organization.
There are four governing bodies in boxing that are recognized as the main ones WBC, WBO, IBF and WBA but the WBC are in terms of organization the largest out of them all.
There are many big stars in world boxing at the moment in the UK, America and so on but Saul ‘Canelo’ Alvarez remains the biggest pay per view star (maybe Gervonta Davis number two now in that regard).
The new Mexico President honored both Alvarez and the WBC this weekend:
Good for all of the above but very good for boxing and Mexico.
Mexico at the end of the day after America has produced the most world champions in professional boxing history in second place in that rank.
Also Mexico connects all of Latin and South America to North America (the US, Puerto Rico, Canada etc.) so is a very key place precisely in that side of the world in all aspects — so the above is great for the sport.
