While Benavidez is still chasing the Canelo fight he has got a big consolation prize to say the least if he beats David Morrell next, at some point.

As Michael Benson on X says per the WBC:

“The WBC have now confirmed that David Benavidez vs David Morrell on Feb 1st will be a final eliminator to determine the next WBC light-heavyweight mandatory challenger for the Artur Beterbiev vs Dmitry Bivol winner on Feb 22nd. WBC ‘interim’ and WBA ‘regular’ belts both on the line for Benavidez vs Morrell.”

That surely will make up for the Canelo fight for Benavidez if he gets the win.

We shall see.
