Darren Still Slams Tommy Fury

Darren Still Slams Tommy Fury

Darren Till goes into detail following Tommy Fury’s recent pullout due to concerns he would not stick to boxing rules in their fight.

The whole thing is still up in the air a bit, as regards who Till will fight in boxing next month.

Speaking to IFL TV Till opened up on it:

Darren: I’m good, mate, yeah.

Joe: Great to hear. I know you spoke with Coogan on Zoom a few days ago when the news broke, but first, let me ask you about Frankie Stringer. Frankie looked good tonight, didn’t he?

Darren: He did, yeah. Frankie! Come over here! We’ll catch up with Frankie when he’s done. Let’s get the kid on the platform—let people know who he is.

Joe: 100%. He’s got a solid team around him with you, Joe, and the rest of the gym. Plus, now he’s signed with BOXXER.

Darren: Yeah, he’s got a great team. I wouldn’t say I’m the best, but he’s got Liam as his manager, Joe, and Dean supporting him. He’s in good hands. Frankie just needs to keep working hard, and I’m confident he’ll elevate himself. He’s not just talented; he’s a nice kid too.

Joe: Frankie, how’s the boxing training going?

Frankie: It’s been tough this week. I’ve had some solid sparring sessions—eight good rounds. It’s been a grind, but I’m feeling great.

Joe: That’s what we like to hear. Let’s talk about your pro debut—how are you feeling?

Frankie: I’ve been sick all morning, but I’m happy with my performance. I could’ve finished my opponent, but I was forcing it a bit, and my legs felt heavy. Still, I’m happy with how it went.

Joe: That’s good to hear. So, what’s next for you? Who do you want to fight?

Frankie: Anyone and everyone—I don’t care. Whoever they put in front of me, I’ll fight.

Joe: That’s the right attitude. Let’s talk about the rumors surrounding Tommy. Some say he’s been hearing things about your sparring. Any truth to that?

Darren: Yeah, I’ve heard the same. I’ve been putting in the work, and I’m ready. Honestly, I don’t think he’s injured—he just went against his commitments. It’s disappointing, but it is what it is.

Joe: Do you think the fight will ever happen, or is it dead in the water?

Darren: At this point, I’ve got no respect for him. I was ready to fight—six weeks out, then seven weeks. He’s just gone running. It’s gutting, to be honest.

Joe: Why do you think he pulled out?

Darren: I think it’s the pressure. Over the years, his team has built a reputation, but I showed up ready to fight. John Fury wasn’t his usual self—no flipping tables, no antics. They just weren’t the same.

Joe: You’re still fighting in January, right?

Darren: Yeah, I’ll stay ready. If they get me an opponent, great. If not, I’ll keep training. Misfits have treated me well, and I’m staying loyal.

Joe: You mentioned during the press conference that you’ve been trying to get a proper fight for two years. Does this situation make it more frustrating?

Darren: Definitely. Boxing is different from MMA. In the UFC, if Dana said you’re fighting, that was it—you had no choice. Boxing is more political, more drawn out. But I’ll fight anyone at this point.

Joe: Have you been surprised by the support you’ve received since the Tommy situation?

Darren: Not really. Everyone knows we were contracted to fight, and I delivered on my part—building hype, doing press conferences, selling pay-per-views. Then he pulled out with the weakest excuse ever. It’s disappointing, but I’m not surprised by the support.

Joe: Well, hopefully, you get an opponent soon, and we see you in January. Keep training hard, Darren, and we’ll catch up again soon.

Darren: Cheers, mate.”

Hopefully news of the new opponent comes soon.

Or news from Fury comes as regards what is going on exactly with him next up.

As things stand Till is expected to still box someone next month in Manchester but not official news yet.
