Tyson Fury is clearly chomping at the bit and ready to go this week by all accounts ahead of his rematch with Usyk.
Undisputed heavyweight champion Usyk of Ukraine gave Fury his first loss earlier this year but by the most narrow of margins on points.
Fury is out for serious damage and payback.
Speaking ahead of the fight on DAZN Fury said:
“I’m feeling very motivated—extremely motivated. I’ve come back from the depths of despair. I don’t feel any pressure at all. Just for the record, I’m going to absolutely annihilate this on Saturday night.
I’m very motivated—so much more motivated than ever. The biggest adjustment I’ve made? Growing a beard! It’s taken me three months to grow this, and I’m pretty proud of it. No oils, no tricks—just natural gray and ginger.
Boxing isn’t the biggest victory in my life. I’ve come back from suicide, from the depths of despair. So stepping into the ring and getting paid a lot of money to fight? That’s child’s play compared to what I’ve been through.
Just for the record: I’m going to annihilate this fight on Saturday night. No retirement. I’m cleaning out the division, and this opponent is just the first one in line.”
Big statements there.
No retirement from Fury either, showing he is enjoying his boxing and seems to be training well.
At 36 he’s still a young man not even in his prime as a heavyweight.
What a fight of biblical proportions in store for world boxing and sports fans this Saturday night in Saudi Arabia.
Roll on.
