Boxing legend Roberto Duran was part of a classic era in the sport with Hagler, Hearns and Leonard. He has seen it all.
He knows boxing as well as anyone on the planet.
Speaking to the Boxing News Duran said of Usyk vs Fury 2 this weekend via an interpreter:
“It was a good fight. Usyk do what he got to do and he wins very well. He thought it was about to be (by Usyk) a knockout (near the end).”
On where Usyk ranks in boxing history he said:
“Usyk is a good fighter. He is young and he can do a lot more in the sport. If he do more defenses (of the belts), more history.”
Surely Usyk can still add more legacy stamps to his legacy in boxing if he wishes.
Amateur and pro, as things stand, he’s pretty much done it all but Usyk appears to be still very motivated to fight.
So it would be a shame if he retired.
Hopefully he doesn’t.
