David Benavidez turned 28-years-old this week and is considered one of the biggest monsters in all of boxing.
He has smashed and steamrolled through everything in his way thus far and is undefeated in 29 professional bouts (29-0-24 KO) but the elusive Canelo Alvarez fight that boxing fans and the boxing world wants still has not happened yet.
Speaking to Fight Hype Benavidez said:
“Yeah definitely (want the Canelo fight) to be honest with you bro I don’t think that fights is ever going to happen, me and Canelo, which is ******* insane. Because that would be one of the biggest fights ever. Not only for boxing but for Mexican boxing history. That fight would be huge. Like I said I’m 100 per cent confident in beating Canelo and maybe that’s why that fight is not happening. Maybe he wants easier fights. Fights like (Edgar) Berlanga, (Jaime) Munguia. All these other people. You know what I mean. I just feel bad for the people because you guys are missing out on a hell of a fight. A hell of a fight. At the end of the day this is what we are meant to be doing this for the fans not for people filling up their pockets like Canelo is doing with all these other fighters and saying **** everybody I’m not going to give you what you see, I’m just going to fight whoever I want. That’s kind of whack to me.”
Benavidez returns next up against David Morrell in a tremendous, difficult fight for both of them in the new year.
The fight takes place on Feb 25th 2025 at the T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.
