Some heavy news has hit the sport over the Christmas holiday season this year that has really taken people back a moment.
A young 35-year-old fighter coming into his prime has tragically died. Paul Bamba at cruiserweight only five days ago broke Mike Tyson’s professional record of 13 knockouts in a calendar year — by notching in 14 knockouts this year — as mentioned by his promoter Neyo less than a week ago on Instagram:
He had only won the WBA Gold Cruiserweight title, then for Bamba to only pass suddenly. Condolences to him, his loved ones and his team.
The boxing world per the popular and established Boxing Kingdom on X account — has been pouring out its reactions already as follows:
Never good news to see in boxing.
Particularly at this time of year.
Rest easy champ.
