Gervonta Davis recently said he’s looking at retiring from boxing undefeated and undisputed getting out on top with his faculties intact.
Something very few do in the fight business period.
Davis appears to be motivated by new family commitments and new horizons.
Jeff Mayweather uncle of all-time great Floyd Mayweather said of the news per Boxing Kingdom on X via Fred Beck first:
“Jeff Mayweather on Gervonta Davis retiring in the near future: “I believe him. He’s been talking about retiring for a while. He wants to spend time with his kids and things like that. And I mean that’s good. I mean basically be able to retire and be able to enjoy his life with his kids. I think it’s better to walk away with your legacy intact rather than just keep fighting.” [@fredpdbeck]”
Wise words.
Davis returns to the ring on March 1st against Lamont Roach first up though.
After that, if he wins, a big fight before the end of 2025 is very likely for ‘Tank’.
