Things Boxing Got Right and Wrong In 2024 In What To Build On In Boom Time For The Sport In 2025

As the new year, and a big one for the sport, is underway, there are a few pros and cons of 2024 worldwide to surely improve on in boxing.

2024 was a very good year in some ways for boxing, in a huge growth time for the sport.

Things the sport did right:

  • The schedule in boxing is becoming more frequent, consistent with better fights at all levels of professional boxing.
  • Less ego in promoters working together to make fights.
  • East and West now growing the sport in all countries.
  • IBA, WBC and others in amateur and pro boxing working closer together hand and hand.
  • Great fights being made brilliant matchmaking in boxing now.

Things to improve from last year:

  • Less technical faults from networks when streaming fights online, more quality production online and in live viewing needed for fans.
  • Olympics in Paris 2024 was a disaster for boxing and the entire country of France. Bin last year’s Olympics, a total write off, move on.
  • Price point balance on PPV needs to factor in geography of fans and market factors, generic pricing worldwide is not good, some countries need a lower price point for the sport to grow in new territories.
  • More countries like India and China need to have markets in boxing expanded in more aggressively and directly.
  • New sponsors are needed as the sport’s growth continues, more sponsors from blue-chip companies in the East will be good as the decline of the Western hemisphere continues on Earth. Sensible balance must be struck between the West and East in boxing’s worldwide expansion. The East is the new West in terms of the highest level of professional boxing and professional sport in the years ahead.
  • More aggression in promotion of the sport in terms of bigger vision, bigger ideas and more quality in all aspects of the boxing product brought to current and new markets.
