Boxing promoter Eddie Hearn is considered one of the main promoters worldwide in the sport at the moment as 2025 starts.
Some reports on social media recently suggested Hearn had a number of armed attackers attempt to take his life. Hearn has now spoken on this in Australia.
Speaking to Fight Hype Hearn said:
“Eddie Hearn, fresh off a plane from overseas—Ed, have you been mugged? There’s a rumor circulating in the boxing world that you were caught up in an incident in Miami involving armed attackers. Can you clarify?
Eddie Hearn: Yes, I’ve heard the rumors—four armed attackers, no, wait, seven armed attackers! But no, unfortunately not. It all started with this fake “Benson” account, which has been causing a stir. The number of people forwarding me posts from that account is unreal. I mean, how long does it take people to realize Benson no longer has an account?
I have to admit, though, I loved the story. It even made a few people genuinely concerned about me, which was quite nice, you know, good for their souls. But no, I was not mugged in Miami. After Miami, I went to San Francisco, then Brisbane, and now I’m here on the Gold Coast. I just arrived yesterday for a big fight.”
There you have it.
Hearn and the other promoters have been working together more in recent years in the sport which has been to the benefit to the sport, the fighters and themselves.
This must and will continue to see the sport grow and flourish fully in 2025, even more than it already is.
