Boxing is a hot sport worldwide now and the reason for that is the best fighters and fighting the best fighters in the world again.
Simple. It is about the fights. He who makes the best fights wins among promoters, broadcasters, networks, organizers, advisers and streaming companies.
Promoter Eddie Hearn is one of the leading promoters in the sport, and adviser Al Haymon, who is the head of Premier Boxing Champions, is widely considered one of the most influential people in boxing.
That said, fights are being made a lot more but Hearn thinks not enough sometimes from Haymon.
Speaking to Fight Hype Hearn said of Haymon:
“PBC have done fights with Riyadh Season but Al (Haymon) has always rather wanted to do it himself, you know what I mean. There’s fights that we could have made but I think Al… Bob, you could slag Bob (Arum) off but he will do a deal. Oscar (De La Hoya), Frank (Warren) maybe. Bob is probably the one you could do (a deal with easiest). Sometimes things are said that you can’t go back on. Sometimes with Al, I just think with Al he’d rather not do (a deal) then do (a deal to make a fight) and maybe it’s time to change that.”
Interesting as always from Hearn.
PBC are doing great things too of course and Amazon Prime is a huge company that PBC and Haymon have brought to boxing on their own.
On a PBC note, if Gervonta Davis was to retire young from boxing in 2025, it would be a travesty if he doesn’t fight Shakur Stevenson before retiring, an absolute travesty.
