IBF heavyweight champion dynamite Daniel Dubois takes on former WBO heavyweight champion Joseph Parker next month.
The fight takes place on February 22nd in Saudi Arabia.
Whoever wins likely will get a shot at undisputed champion Oleksandr Usyk later this year.
Speaking to Sky Sports Dubois said at the 2024 Ring Magazine where he won Knockout of the Year:
“Daniel Dubois: It’s great to be recognized for my achievements, and I’m hoping to sweep these awards tonight. Let’s make it happen.
How confident are you ahead of next month’s fight against Joseph Parker? It feels like we’re seeing a completely different Daniel Dubois now.
Daniel Dubois: I’m confident and ready. Everyone’s got to grow up, haven’t they? I’m prepared to fight, to take him on, and to go through him. I’m focused and determined to keep moving forward.
How have you processed what you achieved at Wembley? It shocked so many people, though maybe not you and your inner team.
Daniel Dubois: No, not at all. We’re on a roll and really want to keep this momentum going. We’re aiming for the top, and we’re staying there.
I know you’re not looking past Joseph Parker, but last time in Riyadh, you made your presence felt when you called out Oleksandr Usyk. Do you think facing him again is realistic? What would you do differently next time?
Daniel Dubois: Oh, absolutely. I wouldn’t let him off the hook next time. He got away lucky before, and I need to right that wrong and get my revenge. But first things first—it’s all about Parker right now.”
Interesting from Dubois.
Obviously Usyk will be paying attention, but, so will Parker.
That Parker fight next month is a big one in its own right and Parker will be coming all guns blazing for that IBF title Dubois won from Joshua last year.
