The relaunched Ring Magazine is not just a print magazine but also a belt that carries much merit in boxing then and now.
The holder of the belt in each division usually is the best fighter in the division at that time.
Speaking at Ring Magazine’s 2024 Awards heavyweight legend Lennox Lewis noted:
“Great to see boxers that I haven’t seen yet in real life that I haven’t seen yet because I wanted to size them up (laughs).”
He went on:
“It meant a lot (the Ring Magazine) because I use to read them and collect them and see what the boxers were saying, what the coaches were saying and what the managers were saying so it was a good magazine for that. So then you would always know the right ratings in the magazine, so that was good as well.”
Lewis won Ring Magazine knockout of the year before.
Notably when he knocked out Mike Tyson when they finally fought in Memphis some years ago.
