Oscar De La Hoya the promoter of Ryan Garcia recently (a little bit) quashed an exhibition for Garcia in Japan and he’s not keen on a Devin Haney rematch either.
It appears the Golden Boy Promotions owner wants Garcia to fight Teofimo Lopez instead.
Speaking to Fight Hub YouTube at the Ring awards De La Hoya said:
“If Ryan Garcia wants it, then that’s what he wants. Me personally, I see no need for it. Ryan Garcia destroyed him (Haney) and that’s the bottom line. I think we have to make the best fights possible and there’s fighters here like Teofimo, there’s fighters here that we can match up Ryan with anyone, and make a tremendous event. Yeah if they are the best at the moment, if that’s what people want to see, we have to make it. I sound like a broken record here, I was once a fighter, now I’m a promoter, I want to see the best fight the best.”
The Teofimo Lopez fight is a big one too of course.
A great fight as well that boxing fans would surely welcome.
2025 is the year of big fights being made everywhere around the world in boxing.
What a year for fans ahead.
