Some big news in boxing for those wishing to see a big Ryan Garcia vs Devin Haney 2 fight in 2025 with this to say the least.
Garcia initially won the first fight against Haney in 2024 but it was changed to a no contest after after he was banned for trace amounts of an illegal substance and was banned from boxing for one year.
Now, per Mike Coppinger of ESPN on X, that is changing soon:
“Devin Haney and Ryan Garcia jointly asked the court Wednesday to pause proceedings for 90 days surrounding the suit against Garcia due to a tentative settlement, per a legal document obtained by ESPN. This development comes as Haney and Garcia are closing in on a deal for a rematch in the second half of 2025, sources told ESPN.”
Very good.
Boxing fans, and surely the fighters themselves, would rather see things be settled in the ring, not in a trivial courtroom.
More lucrative for all concerned too, by far.
